Sometimes, a known world of our own construction is the threat, when what I took for truth turns out to be wrong.

How can we plan in this pandemic? How can we not plan?

Cruising boats have three broad options: shorten sail and change course; heave to; or abandon ship.

This is how cruising goes. One minute you’re swimming in a perfect anchorage; the next, you’re clutching your abandon ship bag.

It’s so much easier to name when you’re an outsider. You have no power, no responsibility to change.
